1. He made $850 Million & Moved to a Trailer Park
Tony Hsieh served as the CEO of Zappos, which sold to Amazon for $1.2 billion and earned Tony around $214 million. Tony had also sold a previous company for over $260 million and co-founded an investment firm. Despite being worth just under $1 billion dollars, Tony lived in a trailer park. Yes, a trailer park.
Tony owned the upscale Airstream park that was made up of 20 Airstream travel trailers, and 10 tiny homes. Tony personally lived in a 240 square-foot trailer with his 2 pet llamas. To live at the park, you had to receive a personal invite and contribute a skill to the community. âFor example, there was a chef who not only paid rent but also managed the outdoor cooking (most residents ate communally for dinner every night)â.
You can see a video tour of Tonyâs park â Here
Unfortunately Tony passed away 2 weeks before his 47th birthday in 2020, but I think itâs safe to say he lived a very cool life.
2. Donât Set GoalsâŠ. Create Routines!
In a team meeting this week, my manager presented our teamâs 2022 goals and quotas, but ended the meeting with âdonât set goals, create routinesâ. The more Iâve thought about this statement, the more it makes perfect sense to me.
If you set a goal without holding your self accountable to taking the necessary steps to accomplishing it, youâre most likely going to fail.
Goal: Close 50 deals in 2022. Routine: Call 10 new people every day, Monday through Friday.
Goal: Run a Half Marathon in March. Routine: Run every Monday, Wednesday, Friday, & increase distance by one mile each week.
Try thinking about your own goals, and think about the routines you need to set to accomplish them.
*Bonus*: Reply to this email with your routine & goal, and I will personally keep you accountable with a check-in email! (send the timeframe in which you plan to accomplish too)
3. Business Idea of the Week: Glitchân Dealz Flipping
Reselling or flipping products on sites like Ebay or Amazon can be a very lucrative side hustle, and doesnât take a ton of skill (just a lot of hustle). It is very possible to reach 6 or even 7 figures in sales by reselling, if youâre willing to put in the time. Like this 16 year old high school student that made $110,000 in profit from flipping products on Amazon.
Reselling or Flipping = Buying a product for a low price, and selling it somewhere else for a higher price. A common example of this is buying low priced items at Walmart or Marshallâs and reselling that product for a higher price on Amazon or Ebay. Ex. Buy a pair of shoes at Marshalls for $15 â Sell the shoes on Amazon for $50.
What is Glitch-n-Dealz: glitchndealz.com is a website that posts the craziest deals found on the internet each day. As âglitchâ suggests, sometimes there are glitches in pricing for online products, and this website aims to find and report those products. For example, a site may list a tv for $25.55 instead of $255. If you are able to find this error, you can purchase the TV at the glitch price of $25.55. Glitch-n-Dealz posts these crazy deals everyday, and gives you opportunity to grab them.
The Business: The idea here is to monitor glitchndealz.com daily, and source highly discounted products that youâll be able to re-sell on sites like Ebay or Amazon. After a few good deals, you should be able to get your re-selling business up and running. This will take constant sourcing of new inventory, and monitoring for the best dealsâŠbut thats business baby!
How to find if a product will be Profitable: This will vary depending on the marketplace you plan to resell it on. Amazon: download the Amazon seller app on your phone, search the product and find the exact listing for the item. You will be able to see what that item is selling for, input the price you bought it for, and see your expected profit. Ebay: go to ebay.com and click on âAdvancedâ next to the search bar (it will be in very small writing). This brings up the advanced search where youâll input the item and check the box labeled âSold Listingsâ. This will show you exactly what the product has sold for in the past, and from that price you can subtract your cost of the product + shipping + 10% Ebay fee, to find what your profit will be.
