1. This Ad Sold over $2 billion of Subscriptions
I recently completed Sam Parr’s “CopyThat” copywriting course, where I hand copied legendary copywriting for 10 days.
…it was a lot of writing.
I read and copied a bunch of awesome ads, but there’s one I can’t stop thinking about…
The Wall Street Journal Ad.
The ad was originally published in 1975, and was used through 2003.
In that time (28 years) the ad sold over $2 billion worth of subscriptions for the Wall Street Journal.
So crazy….
Thats $71 million/year - over the course of 28 years.
So what made this ad so special? It told a story. A story that got the readers attention.
Story based sales is one of the most effective strategies you can use to sell something.
Example: Business x was losing money every day, had 2 months left before they would file bankruptcy, but then they found “our product”. After using “our product” they are now profiting $1 million every month, and the owner sold the business for $20 million. Find out more about how they did it → here.
Anyways, back to the letter.

2. Win This Week
It’s Sunday, which means the Scaries are really starting to set in.
Jk…
It means it’s time to plan for the upcoming week.
So how can you make sure you win this week? And make sure you feel accomplished when Friday comes?
Write down your 3 most important goals to accomplish this week, and review them every morning.
Example: Schedule 4 appointments, finish XYZ document, and prospect 10 new leads
Make sure everyday is structured to accomplish these goals.
… and thank you for listening to my Ted Talk. 😄
3. Business idea of the Week: Etsy Dropshipping
Want a side-hustle you can start this weekend?
A side hustle that can (almost) run its-self after some upfront work?
I got you…
The idea: Post print-on-demand products on Etsy. This idea is nothing new or unique, but there are tons of sellers on Etsy making great money doing this.
Steps to get started:
Create designs on Canva ($13/month). It’s good to pick a niche here. Ex. Dog owners, Funny Sayings, Golf, Soccer, etc.
Sign up for Printify.com, and upload your graphics to the product of your choice. Ex. T-shirt, Coffee Mug, Towel, etc.
List pictures of the products on Etsy at a price that gives you your desired profit. Ex. the cost to make + ship the item = $12, so you list on Etsy for $18 ($6 profit/order)
Get Sales on Etsy, and order from Printify. Set shipping to the customers address.
Here’s an example of a mug I made using Canva + Printify, and posted on Etsy.
How to market? You can run ads directly on Etsy, or run ads on Pinterest to pick up extra sales.
