🧠 A Christmas Light Sales Agency
Three iPhone Tricks You Need to Start Using and Twitter’s Revenue Per Employee
1. Business idea of the Week: Christmas Light Installation Sales Agency
It’s that time of the year.
Halloween is over, Thanksgiving is in 2 weeks, and people are decorating for Christmas.
But hanging Christmas lights on a house isn’t the easiest task…
So people are creating “Christmas light installation” services, and making a killing.
I’m talking 6-figures of revenue in under 2 months.
But how can we get in on this gold rush without physically installing lights?
The idea: Create a sales agency to find and close customers for Christmas light installation services.
Instead of learning how to set up Christmas lights, and fulfilling the service, let’s just get a commission for every customer we close.
First we will need to find an installation service to partner with. You can google “Christmas light installation near me” or look on sites like Craigslist or Facebook marketplace.
Once you find services in your area, you’ll need to pitch them on acting as their sales team in exchange for a commission.
Let’s say the average service price is $600/ house and you can ask for a 20% commission, or $120 for every new customer you bring them.
And let’s say you close 4 customers/day in an average 5 day week.
Thats $480/day or $2,400/ week.
But how will we find customers? Here’s a few idea’s:
Door-to-Door Sales: Cheapest and most effective, but hardest to scale.
Knock every door in a neighborhood and pitch them on the light installation service.
Flyers and Lawn Signs: More expensive, medium effective, but more scaleable than door-to-door.
Put flyers in mailboxes and yard signs around your town.
Online Advertising: Most expensive, mixed effectiveness, but biggest opportunity to scale.
Advertise on sites like Facebook, Google, and NextDoor.
This is a time sensitive business that only has demand for ~2 months per year, but provides an opportunity to make some quick cash.
At an average of $2,400 per week with 6 weeks of sales, you can make a quick $14K of pure profit this holiday season.

3. Twitter’s Revenue Per Employee
Revenue-per-employee is useful metric to understand how efficient a company is.
For example:
Company A generates $10 million with 5 employees ($2M/employee).
&
Company B generates $10 million with 100 employees ($100K/employee).
Let assume both companies sell a similar product in a similar industry. In this example, company A operates more efficiently than company B, and will most likely grow much quicker with the free cash-flow it generates.
Now lets take a look at revenue per employee at Twitter, and 9 other top tech companies:
This number was published before Elon bought Twitter and announced he would layoff 50% of the company.
So what happens to this metric now that Twitter is laying off 50% of their employees?
This number skyrockets! 📈
Lets assume Twitter had 7,500 employees when they were generating $676K/employee.
If revenue stays the same with just 3,750 employees they’ll now generate $1.3M/employee.
This puts them ahead of ebay, Microsoft and Paypal.
Talk about a major jump in the ranks. 🚀
