What’s up party people! We’re back with another side hustle idea!

Before we dive into today’s idea, let’s connect on Twitter!

And if you have any ideas for this newsletter, check out our suggestion box!

1. Business idea of the Week: Newsletter Design Agency

I might be in a bubble… but newsletters seem to be all the rage these days.

Websites like Substack and Beehiiv make it extremely simple to launch a newsletter for free.

And with the increase in newsletters, there’s now a need for agencies and freelancers to provide services to these creators.

So how can we cash in on this trend?

The idea: Create a newsletter design agency.

This is a service I’ve thought about as I write my newsletters.

But this week the demand for this service was validated on Twitter.

Has @beehiiv been around long enough for someone to become a template expert? I want to hire one to make my template perfect. Open to 3rd party or beehiiv rockstar employee who wants to make some extra money

How to get started: This business will require skill and practice to deliver. You can start practicing with a free Beehiiv account and watch Youtube videos on how to use the design features on Beehiiv.

It’s best if you can learn to fulfill this service yourself, but if you have 0 design skills, you can partner with a designer to fulfill the jobs you book.

Check out these 5 newsletter designs for inspiration.

And just like Beehiiv, you can also specialize in platforms like Substack, Mailchimp, ConvertKit, etc.

Next you can spin up a simple landing page using Carrd, and showcase sample designs that you or your designer have built.

Once you have a good-looking site and portfolio, it’s time to find your first customer.

The best way to find Beehiiv users is to search for users on Twitter that have ā€œ.beehiiv.comā€ in their profile. This means their newsletter is hosted on Beehiiv.

You can DM them your portfolio, and offer personalized suggestions on their current newsletter design.

Start by charging them a flat fee (like $250 - $500) for designing their newsletter template, and then you can hit them with upsells.

  • Newsletter landing pages

  • Newsletter Facebook ads

  • Newsletter Social Media Posts

And more…

The bigger the newsletter you target, the more money they will have to spend, and the more opportunity it will provide your agency with.

And that’s a wrap!

2. How to Buy an Online Business.

Have you ever wanted to buy an online business that’s already generating sales?

If you’re anything like me, the thought of buying a business and growing it sounds awesome.

But it’s hard to understand where to start and how to know if you’re getting a good deal.

But luckily I came across Shlomo’s Remote Revenues Newsletter!

Every Thursday morning he sends you a website listing assessment video with insights to help you buy your first digital business.

Don’t buy a business blindly and know what to look for!

3. The Guy Behind Your Microwave

If you go into your kitchen right now, there’s a good chance that the Midea group made at least one of your appliances.

Refrigerator, stove, microwave, etc.

And the guy behind it all has made a fortune.

Meet He Xiangjian.

Midea's billionaire founder He Xiangjian rescued after kidnappers armed with explosives broke into his luxury villa in Foshan, China | South China Morning Post

Mr. Xiangjian founded the Midea group in 1968, and currently has a net worth of $28 billion, making him the 49th richest man in the world.

But like many entrepreneurs, Mr. Xiangjian came from humble beginnings.

In 1968, he opened his first manufacturing workshop with roughly $700. In the early days, he focused on manufacturing bottle lids and car parts until the 1980s when he made the switch to electrical appliances.

This switch is what really grew the Midea group, and allowed them to become a leader in the small appliance manufacturing industry.

Fast forward to today, the Midea group employs over 166,00 people with $52 billion in annual revenue.

They are currently the largest manufacturer of microwaves and are manufacturers behind brands like Toshiba, Whirlpool, and Black&Decker.

So next time you go to heat up your food in a microwave, you can thank Mr. Xiangjian.

Or maybe he should thank you…
