🧠 A Personal Relationship Management Tool ft. Martijn Verbove
An AI Tool That’s Actually Useful and The Big Business of Fantasy Sports
1. Business idea of the Week: A Personal Relationship Management Tool
This week I had the opportunity to sit down with Martijn Verbove (@verbove), founder of Webscape.ai and historysearch.com.
You can watch the whole interview on Youtube.
Now let’s get into Martijn’s business idea.
It may sound cliche… but…
Relationships = Currency
Building valuable relationships can take a lot of work, but can be the reason you find success in many parts of your life.
For example, I was referred to work at Amazon by a friend I played soccer with in College. Without that relationship (and referral), my application for the job likely wouldn’t have gotten me a chance at interviewing for the role.
These days, most relationship building starts online through platforms like Twitter, Instagram, and Reddit. Just like how I met Martijn (through Twitter).
But keeping track of everyone you interact with is tough, and following up with them can feel like a task.
So how can we better organize these relationships?
The idea: A personal relationship management tool.
This tool will basically be a CRM (customer relationship management tool), similar to what businesses use to track their customers, but will focus on individuals keeping track of their relationships.
It will be a central inbox that brings in all of your communication from platforms like Twitter, Reddit, LinkedIn, etc.
Instead of logging into each separate platform and looking through individual inboxes, users will be able to log into one platform and respond to everything.
How to get started: Since this is a software/web application, it will require some level of technical building skills to build the MVP (minimum viable product).
If you’re not a technical person, you can partner up with someone that can code, or explore no-code options to build the first version.
Once you have the first version of the product built, it’s time to find your customers.
The great thing about this product is that you can use it to find your customers.
You can individually reach out to potential customers on Twitter and Reddit, and set up onboarding calls to individually onboard new customers.
This idea isn’t an easy one and isn’t likely to make a ton of cash in the beginning, but has the opportunity to solve a real problem and scale over time.
Marijn talks more about this idea and how to get your first customers starting at 23:00 in the interview.
2. An AI Tool That’s Actually Useful
AI is a term that gets thrown around a lot.
AI stands for artificial intelligence, and means that a machine is learning on its own, without us telling it what to do.
It seems like every business says they use AI, but it’s rarely impressive in action.
But today I found a site that uses AI in an extremely useful way.
Magiceraser.io removes unwanted objects from images in a few seconds.
For example, lets say you take a picture of a house, but theres an ugly car in front of it.
Simply upload the photo, draw over the car, and bam! No more car in the photo.
Here’s an example.
I uploaded this picture of myself on a paddle board.
Next, I used the brush over just myself.
And let the AI do its thing…
Pretty cool if you ask me…
3. The Big Business of Fantasy Sports
If you’re anything like me, every year you have 1 or 2 fantasy football teams with a group of friends.
I personally don’t even watch much football, but completing against friends is something I really enjoy.
And I know I’m not alone, because the numbers behind fantasy sports are crazy.
Let’s look at a few:
78% - The percentage of Fantasy sports participant that play Fantasy Football.
59.3 Million - The number of Fantasy Sports participants in 2017.
$21. 39 billion - The estimated value of the Fantasy Sports market in 2021.
19% - The percentage of Americans 18+ that play Fantasy sports.
44. 07 billion - The estimated value that the Fantasy Sports market will reach in 2027.
