đ§ Mobile Detailing at Tesla Charging Stations
How to optimize your life and how The Founder of FedEx Saved The Company by Gambling
Iâm traveling this weekend, so no podcast this week.
But Iâm excited to bring you a side hustle idea that Iâve been thinking about for a while.
1. Business idea of the Week: Mobile Detailing at Tesla Charging Stations
About 6 months ago, I drove a Tesla for the first time. And it was awesome.
Insane acceleration, completely silent, and an all white interior.
But you know whatâs not great about having a Tesla?
Waiting 30 min for the battery to charge at the charging station.
It can take around 25-30 min to fully charge a Tesla battery, and Tesla owners just sit there until their car is charged.
So letâs create a service that can utilize this waiting time.
The idea: Create a mobile car detailing services, focusing on Tesla charging stations.
Mobile detailing is a great business/side hustle itself, but if we niche it down to Tesla charging stations, we can target an audience that competitors arenât going after.
Another added benefit of targeting Tesla owners, is that theyâve got money.
âThe average household income of a Tesla Model X owner in 2022 is $146,623 per year.â - hedgescompany.com
Theyâre driving an expensive car, and our service can keep it looking nice.
How to get started: This is a straight forward business. Learn how to detail a car â buy the detailing supplies â go to a Tesla charging station and start getting customers.
The Tesla owners will be sitting there for 20-30 min anyways, which should be enough time for you to do a basic detailing of their car.
Thereâs a ton of videos on youtube on how to start a mobile detailing business, so thatâs a great place to start.
You can start this business as a side hustle, and grow it into a full time business relatively quickly.
This is also a great business to start doing by yourself, and scale with employees.
Check out this service already doing this â electricjoy.com (only in California)
2. How to optimize your life
I know, its a bold statementâŠ
But I recently came across this idea on how to optimize what youâre doing with your life, and I really like it.
Every morning when you wake up, imagine youâre already 100 years old.
If youâre looking back on your life, what would wish you would have done more of?
Is it to start that new business? Create more content? Spend more time with your family?
Do things today that will make your future self proud.
3. The Founder of FedEx Saved The Company by Gambling
This is a legendary story and could have ended much worse.
Back in 1973, just 2 years after Frederick Smith founded FedEx, the company was burning through cash and facing bankruptcy.
In a last ditch effort to save the company, Fredrick took the companyâs last $5,000 to Vegas.
Against all odds, he turned the $5,000 into $27,000 playing blackjack, and immediately wired the money back to the companyâs account.
That $27,000 ended up allowing FedEx to pay the bills for another week, until they were able to get additional funding to keep FedEx afloat.
These days FedEx has over 500K employees, and generates roughly $9 billion per year. All thanks to a night of blackjack in Vegas.
